  1. What I enjoyed most about the book was the friendships. The sacrifices Lily and Albert made for their friendship was incredible. They made the journey through the war together and deserve to stay with each other. One thing I did not like about the book was that when it was about to tell you a story, like when Albert was about to tell the real story he did not. Then the next chapter lily was in the library looking back at what he said, that was how you found out. What i think about how the story ended was, fast and happy. It came a little fast which made it confusing. it was also a joyful, reuniting ending because Poppy and Ruth came back and Albert was still at the Orbans. I wish that it would of shown more of the ending when Margaret came back and Albert left. It just ended I wanted more excitement to match the rest of the book.

    1. Addie, I agree that it was frustrating how the story sort of jumped around. It made me wonder if I missed something in the book or if the author had just not filled in that part of the story yet. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I really enjoyed reading Lily’s Crossing because I like historical fiction. My dad and his family lived through the attack on Pearl Harbor so I grew up hearing stories about World War II. Some of my relatives survived the war and others did not so I am familiar with the heartache of wartime. I also grew up near the Atlantic Ocean and spent my childhood in and around boats so those passages brought back vivid memories for me.
Lily and Margaret were summertime friends but they didn’t seem to have a very strong bond. I wonder how the story would have been different if the author had made the two girls best friends. What would the girls write in letters to each other? Maybe we would have more insight into how Margaret felt about her brother missing in action. Maybe we would learn more about what happened to Lily’s mom.
At the end of the story I hoped that Lily would finally get to meet Ruth and she did. I was also glad to see that Lily and Gram grew closer to one another and began to understand each other on a deeper emotional level. Some of Gram’s harshness melted away as she took care of Lily in Poppy’s absence. Lily began to understand how much Gram missed Poppy too and that helped Lily to be more compassionate and thoughtful towards Gram.
I wish that there had been some resolution to what happened to Eddie. I suppose the author wanted to leave us with the emotions that so many real families have experienced, not knowing what happened to their family member during the war. Did they die? Are they a prisoner of war in some foreign country? Are they injured and lying in a hospital somewhere but can’t remember who they are? I didn’t like being left with that sense of sadness about Eddie because I like happy endings. Many other parts of the story were wrapped up with happy endings though which made me feel better.

    1. Well I don't think Eddie going die in war because maybe he still alive and hide away from Hitler, Nazi, Germany. Of course they caught them and put in jail. I think Eddie is somewhere not in jail I think.

  3. What I enjoyed most about the book is that when Lily tells a lie that could have costed Albert his life, she didn’t tell lies anymore to anyone. I like that she stopped lying because if she met another person and she said that anyone could turn into a narwhal by eating a boat, that wouldn’t be good. The book was really good and there's nothing that I didn’t like about it. I really liked how the story ended because they find Ruth and Lily’s Dad comes home. I wish that in the book Albert’s Grandma was with Ruth because Ruth then wouldn’t be alone in France.

  4. What I enjoy most about the book is when the book goes too boring then too Shocking. What I mean by this is like when it went too Lilly playing the piano and then Albert telling his story of what happened to Ruth. Then we find out that he was telling a lie of the story. Also we find out that Lily wasn't actually going on the ship. She lied too make Albert happy. The parts that I really didn't like about the book is the sad moments. Why I didn’t like the sad moments is cause it kinda made me sad too. also I didn't like the boring parts cause I wanted to jump right into the story and find out what's happening. What I think about the ending of the story was great, although it was kind confusing and frustrating. Why it was frustrating is cause the book ended and there were some parts where I was hooked in and other parts I wasn't. Why it was confusing is because there were some part s in the book that I didn't even get and some parts that were hook in pages were still kinda confusing and in one part it mentioned the three Musketeers in there. The things that I wished didn't happen is all the soldiers gone missing, Lily’s dad going off into the army, and Eddie maybe getting killed or being taken hostage and being killed. Also Margret moving away too a factory with her dad these are the things that I didn't want to happen in the book.

  5. My favorite part of the book was when Albert shared his story because when you read the back of the book you get that Albert has come a far way but you don’t know how bad his situation is until he tells Lily. the book was fine there wasn't that much bad about it just I want to know more about Margaret and Gram. I like how it ended a lot just maybe. 6. I enjoy most about book is Lily and Albert being friend each other and telling story what happen to their family. Well I loves reading Lily’s Crossing because it so awesome story and tell their feelings and another thing is sad or something else. I really likes Lily’s Crossing because it great story about what happen the war Lily’s Poppy got in war. Lily just hate war a lot because war seems never stop so Lily’s Poppy have to stay in war and not going home yet. Now the end Lily’s Poppy come back home and Lily is so happy about Poppy.
I didn't likes about the book because I don’t like Lily and Albert not getting along I want them get along now they get along I so happy they get along. Last time they fighting over kitten not together they fighting always. Both them are mad each other and ignoring each other and keeping saying not be friend. Lily always said “Too bad were not friend.” then she keeping saying that. Albert didn't noticed just ignoring her. So I don’t likes Lily and Albert doing that not be friend. I always makes people be my friends. Sometime I not getting along with another because they just ignoring me and hating me so much. So I not be friend with mean people.
I think the end story be end the war because the end said the war is done. So I knew that the story can be end so that means the war is done that no problem.
I wish Albert’s family still alive but it never happen Albert’s family got killed by Nazi, Hitler, and Germany.
